SOUTHERN MEDICAL FOUNDATION, provides healthcare to the needy communities through public contributions. Our goal is to provide medical care to all at all the times.

(We provide healthcare to the communities for permanent and temporary projects)

Southern Medical Foundation is a non-profit and tax exempt USA based organization dedicated to provide healthcare services to the communities. We started in Citronelle, Alabama for the reason that for about 10,000 population there is no physician available to this and surrounding communities after regular business hours. A person in need of  medical attention must travel about 35 miles to the nearest emergrency room. Citronelle, Alabama is not the only community, there are thousands of other communities with such a problem. Dr. Shaikh has tried and tested a self contained primary and urgent care center. Due to effectiveness of such a program,  Southern Medical Foundation is planning to establish other such clinics in near future. 

Tthe need and urgency of the problem led us to the creation of Southern Medical Foundation. The foundation was established in May 2001 but it remained inactive for a prologed period of time. Our determination to help the underserved communities, has inspired many people and with the help of the community, Southern Medical Foundation is operating its first urgent care clinic at Citronelle Medical Center buliding. This urgent care clinic is funded by the Southern Medical Foundation through donations and contributions collected by the public. The foundation does not receive any federal, state or local funds for its services.

• Southern Medical Foundation, Inc. (SMF) provides healthcare and education to the public regardless of their ethnic back ground.
• SMF will provide free and/ or discounted rate services to public based on their financial status.
• SMF will build/lease its own medical facilities to provide services any where in the world as long as local community is willing to stay involved.
• SMF will use donations, grants and revenues to continue its opertions. The very susccess of such a project depemds on community involvement.
• SMF will donate resources and services to other charitable organizations for the sole purpose of healthcare and education.
• SMF will work with other organizations to establish resources for the welfare of it's employees, affiliated members or organizations (For example Medical staff welfare fund, Risk management fund, Medical education fund, Medical education excellence program etc.).
• SMF membership is open to individuals of all color and race.
• SMF is a non profit organization and all contributions made to it are tax deductible.
• SMF does not engage in any political activity and does not endorse any political ideology.
• SMF is allocating a fund to provide transport to the eligible individuals to seek medical care in the area.
• SMF is establishing a fund to provide prescription drugs to the eligible individuals.
